Ballard in NCAA 2008

Adam Ballard is once again a powerful force in the video game world. In this years NCAA College Football 2008 video game Ballard is ranked the 6th best fullback in the nation. Ballard is given a 92 overall, 84 speed (top 10), and 80 strength. He is also a star impact player. We all know that Ballard could not be given his real stats because he would become the Bo Jackson (Tecmo Bowl) of NCAA College Football 2008.

I played with the Mids for the first time today against my roommate. My roommate is a huge Notre Dame fan so he played with the Irish. Now, he knows all about the powerful triple option that the Mids use and especially about Ballard. I started the game a little slow against his all out blitz packages. I called some audibles for some passes to loosen up the D. Once I started to get a hold of the new plays in the Navy playbook, it was all over. Ballard led the 52-28 beating rushing for 226 yards on 15 carries. That comes to a 15.0 ypc average. Ballard had a long run of 68 yards and a 52 yard reception out of the backfield. Ballard broke many tackles on his way to scoring 5 touchdowns!

I feel that these statistics are just a sample of what is to come when I start playing the computer to simulate the upcoming Navy football games! I predict big things once again for the Heisman hopeful Adam Ballard!

Ballard 4 Heisman Poll results

Looking at the final tally for the Heisman online poll conducted on this website, Adam Ballard was the run away winner with 82.5% of the votes. A total of 137 votes were casted and Ballard pulled in 113 of them. Finish second was Ohio State's Troy Smith with 21 votes followed by Oklahoma's Adrien Peterson with 2 and Michigan's Michael Hart with 1.

Major Upset

In what will go down as one of the biggest upsets in sports history, Troy Smith took home this years Heisman Award. Adam Ballard, although not invited, was considered a strong candidate by many football followers.

The Ballard for Heisman push now focuses on next years Heisman Award in Ballards 4th and final season at Navy before he moves on to play on Sundays.

Ballard lost for bowl game

Adam Ballard underwent surgery today to repair his broken leg. On Adam's second carry, an Army defended rolled on his leg breaking his Fibia. Had Ballard not been injured, it was more than likely he would have ran for close to 300 yards. Ballard finished the game with 10 yards on just two carries. With Ballard being done for the year, he will end his Junior season with 792 yards on 154 attempts for a 5.1 yard average which is good for 59th in the country. (going into the bowl games)
Now I don't want to spread rumors, but the rumor on the street that I heard was that Troy Smith is behind Ballard breaking his leg. Smith has connections (although I have no proof) to the Army defender who rolled on Ballards leg. Smith, also a Heisman canadate, is rumored to have asked his Army friend to go after Ballards legs. With Ballard out, Smith might be the next in line for the Heisman Trophy.

Army Navy PS2 Simulation

With the game only 4 days away now, I decided to give everyone a preview (15 minute quarters on Heisman) of what Adam Ballard and the Navy Midshipmen will look like this weekend against Army. Army got on the board first with a field goal but that was as close as they would come as Navy rattles of 31 unanswered points. Navy kept control of the ball for most of the game and let the clock run out in the fourth quarter to secure a 72-24 victory. Ballard and the Navy offense gained a total of 765 yards, 640 of those on the ground while Navy's D had 22 sacks. For the second straight year, Ballard does as he pleases with Army's D. After last years 192 yards on 18 carries, Ballard decided to give the fans even more. Ballard touched the ball a total of 55 times for 613 all purpose yards. Ballard and the Navy offense gained a total of 765 yards, 640 of those on the ground. Ballard rushed 49 times for 535 yards and 6 rushing touchdowns and also had 6 receptions for 78 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns (Heisman statistics if you ask me). Once again, Navy went home with the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy and Ballard had another Heisman-like game.

5 days and counting

5 days until the greatest rivalry in all of sports...The Army Navy football game. This week thousands and thousands of "Beat Army" drinks will be slurped and maybe even thrown back up. The Mids enter the game with a record of 8-3 while Army enters at3-8. This is the 107th meeting between the two Academies with Navy leading the series 50-49. The win will give Navy their fourth straight Commander-In-Chief's Trophy and a chance for the senior class to become the first Navy class to go 8-0 vs. both Army and Air Force.
Here is a look at how Adam Ballard has done when facing the other military academies.
In Ballards three games against the other academies, Ballard has rushed for 337 yards on 48 carries and 2 touchdowns. That is an average of 112.3 yards per game and an outstanding 7 yards per carry average.
Ballard, with two games remaining, only needs 218 more yards to surpass 1,000 yards on the year.
